My life has bridged a number of careers & cultures. My broad experience guides me as I work with clients of all ages, from all walks of life.I began teaching Iyengar yoga in 1976.
I continued to train and teach Iyengar, Sivananda and Synergy Yoga (as taught by Charmaine Lee, based on Polarity Therapy) for most of the three decades that followed, and have been teaching five classes per week in Northern California since 1994.
My personal yoga practice is a blend of intention, dedication, asanas, pranayama, relaxation, meditation and chanting. I was inspired to teach by my first yoga teachers, Iyengar students Barbara Linderman at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Karin Stephan, Rishi and Pierre Gariel at the European Center for Yoga in Paris, France; Sita Frenkel (Swami Gurudevananda of the Divine Life Mission); Riki Middleton of Silver Spring Maryland; and Charmaine Lee of Synergy Dance and Yoga Center in Washington, D.C.
I have also been inspired in the area of meditation and sacred study by my teachers Swami Pranananda, formerly of the Ramakrishna Order, with whom I studied meditation, Sanskrit, Bhajan (songs) and Kirtan, the Bhagavad Gita, and a handful of the Upanishads from 1975-85.
